 My father's final days were during 9/11, which he watched from a hospital bed. He died the following summer, after 3 1/2 years of cancer treatments.

So both he...and my mother-in-law...who died in 2004...never got to see Obama.

My mother lived another ten years, until she was 92. She originally liked Joe Biden, but was ecstatic about Obama. I sent her an Obama sign...in Hebrew! She died during his second campaign.

And when things got bad, she told me she was glad she was almost 90. One Depression in her teens was enough for a lifetime. Now I'll finally get to find that out first-hand, in my geezerhhood.

Since they were both FDR-Truman-Stevenson Democrats, and the children of radicals and pinkos, they would be appalled by what the last decade has brought us. Trump would horrify them. But this...would kill them.
