How much do you smoke anyway? I have been getting estimates of 70 fags a day to your ciggie bill being less than 70 cents a month.

I don't smoke cigarettes, I smoke a pipe. A months pipe tobacco (1 lb) works out to about $7.00.

Something you might like to try is take a small pinch of pipe tobacco, put it in the side of you mouth and leave it there.

I'm almost convinced you're a troll who enjoys encouraging nytram to hurt himself. evileye

Trust me, I don't take anything he says seriously.

In this case you should. Broken clocks etc.

I chewed tobacco for a while and got through a lot less than when I smoked. I dare say that it causes galloping knob rot and causes your arse to fall off, but then most things cause galloping knob rot and cause your arse to fall off.

Remember, I am on your side. The lasses mean well, but at the end of the day they are women and their primary function is not to make you happy or healthy but to keep you on your toes. So have a chaw.

Disgusting habit. I'll stick with the pipe.

Fair enough. Your cats will suffer from secondary smoke inhalation and you will still get earache from the womenfolk, but it is your (imminent) funeral.

You think chewing doesn't kill? I worked with a guy that chewed. He's dead. He went through three surgeries and spent the last couple of years of his life hiding in his house because a large chunk of his lower jaw was gone. He looked like something out of a horror movie.

If nytram starts eating his cigarettes I will have him committed because clearly he's not sane enough to take care of himself.

Surely there are more indicators than just eating cigarettes that demonstrate I'm a bit off?

biggrin

You're off for sure but eating cigarettes is certifiably insane. biggrin

I quit cold turkey in 1993, after smoking for 32 years. One of the most difficult things I've ever done. I had cravings for at least six more months.
But if I hadn't quit, I'd have probably died years ago. I thought that after the first ten smoke free years, time would have undone any damage. Wrong.
My doctor says that starting at 13 and smoking until 45 left me with permanent lung damage....and I also smoked a LOT of weed and hash in my twenties.
I'm going for my third throat-scoping in five years, next week. Been choking on food and have had trouble swallowing. I hope I don't get any surprises.

Charlie

Positive thoughts Charlie everything comes out well on your Scope. I do  a lot of choking due to acid reflux. A condition I have had since I was in my forties. One of my scopes a few years ago showed I have a very small Hiatus Hernia ergo the problem. Sometimes It is so bad I do not feel I will catch my breath. Sometimes I have to have my esophagus stretched. Not fun.

All the best,

Uni

It sure is not pleasant, Cap't. Especially when the IV. medication to put me under does not work on me. Actually 3 of my sibs who had to have it done say the analgesic does not work on them either. Hence it causes the nightmares and the anxiety attacks come back full swing with all of those horrible memories. My Doctor wants me to have both scopes done again since it has been ten years since last scopes were done but I said no way. Never again. if the pollops and ulcers are there well they will stay there. The reason is also for the scar tissue which acts as elastic bands going around the out side of the large bowel.  I have which wraps around the lower intestine which causes mechanical bowel obstructions which means my bowels stop working. Sigh. I will have it done again only if they put me under and do both procedures.

Isn't old  FUN...hmm

And a nice case of mouth cancer. At least you can't see lung cancer.

Not to spoil... yeah, it might spoil your day but read on.  Pipe smoking is a double whammy.  Pipe smokers are at increased risk of lung cancer AND oral cancer.  It seems to be the riskiest choice of all forms of tobacco use.

Thanks but I tried them. They don't work. Hard to light.

Now that's some funny shit, even though it's an old joke that I've heard before.

I believe the patches were the method J'Furr used to quit smoking. They worked. Of course, then she wore the patches for way too long. Years, I think.disbelief

Probably didn't improve her health any, despite all the vitamins she took.  Got her nicotine fix that way, but I don't think you're supposed to do that. Not a smart move. no
