Fire & Uriah Heep definitely not metal.

I was playing Arthur Brown, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep on the job once and was asked, "Can you play something besides metal?". I'll ask you to do what I asked Ghostal, define metal.

One ignorant person you met once doesn't change the meaning of an entire genre. Wikipedia lists the third genre for that Uriah Heep album as metal, but I can't hear it in that music. It must be a small part of the album because it sounds like prime prog rock to me. Arthur Brown is 100% in no way metal. Black Sabbath is the grandfather of metal so it counts even though it's way less hardcore than later metal. Listen to what we posted here in this thread and you'll see how different it sounds to your music.

Metal, Heavy Metal, Hard Metal, Death Metal... What are we talking about here? They all sound different.

Sorry, it is not metal.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_(Arthur_Brown_song)

"Genre: Psychedelic Rock"

"Composition: The song is an example of the psychedelic rock of the period, though its lack of guitars or bass guitar distinguished it from many of its contemporaries."

I don't understand why you are so insistent that this clearly non-metal song is metal. Is it that hard to just admit you were wrong?

If I thought I was wrong I would admit it. I have before.

So can we agree that a band doesn't have to be metal to have a metal song, or even elements in a song that are metal?

This doesn't sound metal to you?

I challenge you

I challenge you all

For all you own and all you know
And by all the powers of darkness, I will steal what is mine
Surrender now or face my spite
I grant you it may be Friday night, but did you know this day also numbers thirteen
First I'll give you fire
I turn your fire into a sleepy stream
Yes, now I give you nightmares
From your horror I'll create a dream

That's okay. This is America where you have the right to be wrong.
