I still own one...it accommodates the viewing of both VHS tapes and DVDs...and you can make a recording using either. Fifteen years old and still working, at least for now. Just hooked up my flat-screen TV to it.

I still have hundreds of tapes, both commercially made and recorded by KCM Productions, and dozens of blank tapes and used ones--for making future recordings.

The ReStore won't sell used tapes...they are worried about...wait for it...PORN...and they even GIVE the new ones to me as well. And a neighbor threw out all their tapes and gave them to ME...so I have about EIGHTY blank tapes in storage for future use.

I will be making VHS tapes on a VCR-type device until the equipment is no longer available...or until I'm dead. Whichever comes first.

An early-adapter, I am not...and I never have been. Like father, like son? HELL, NO! He was the exact opposite. I'm just like he was in too many ways, but technology isn't one of them. If it works, use it, and use it up until it wears out...or they don't make it anymore.

For a few years, back in the first half of the 1980s--and I'm certain of that because both kids were home and in high school--Eddie somehow discovered big thick vinyl disks with a movie recorded along with the player that connected to the t.v.

We probably bought a half dozen (I can't remember the titles), but within a couple years, they were replaced by tapes and eventually CDs.  We enjoyed it all, though, alternating movie time with board games and favorite t.v. programs.

In the west-to-east hallway that separates the two living rooms, I have a 5-shelf rack full of movies and rock'n'roll.  Next time WonderWoman is over, I'll tell her to take what she wants and then I'll toss the rest.  Whatever I want to listen to or watch is available online.  The less the mess I leave for her and Boy Wonder to deal with, the better for the three of us.

My mother had zillions of pictures stored in pink boxes that originally held stacks of printed invitations to my 1960 bar mitzvah, and the envelopes...along with thank you cards I had to sign after the event, and THEIR envelopes. Many of the photographs had no names and dates on the backs. After my folks moved to Florida in the 70s, she finally sorted all the pictures into eight thick photo albums that sat in their den for decades.

After my father died in 2002, my mother moved back up North. But before she died, in 2012, she gave me four of the albums and my sister the other four. I can't even remember anymore if she gave them to me before she moved to Minnesota or afterward. My four albums have sat untouched in the bottom of a trunk, for all the years since.

Now my sister has decided that she doesn't want her daughter to have to go through all her crap and to have to deal with countless photos of people she barely knew, or never knew. So she offered them to me. Shmuck that I am, I said okay. Four days ago, I received a large box full of pictures of cousins and their families, and grandparents, and my sister and I as kids and young adults. Also a whole three-ring binder of pix from my first wedding in 1987. I tossed it onto an end table, along with all the other loose pictures, and have yet to even look at any of it.

Remember when Lucinda and I cleaned out my neighbors house three winters ago? That was nothing. I have no idea who will end up tossing all of our shit in another ten or fifteen years...more and more of which is mine...but they will certainly say three things while cursing us: "They were hoarders and pack rats." "They were weird dorks." "And why did these stupid jerky assholes hold on to all this outdated, antiquated, useless, obsolete, and meaningless shit from the last century?"

I haven't seen Hazel Bishop or Max Factor cosmetics on store shelves for probably a couple decades or more.

I have a long denim dress with a flared skirt I have worn  since I bought it in 1970's. The woman who sell antiques just down the road from us said its worth over 250 dollars. My jaw dropped.  It still fits and is so comfortable. I found two more similar ones at Sally Annes about 10 years ago and bought them for the comfort and the style.aww

Also Bread deliveries on Saturday. My big family would get Bread every Saturday. 20 loaves went into the big freezer. He would also give us day old butter tarts, lemon tarts, snowballs with coconut (I liked them all)and best was the chocolate cupcakes all for free.

I remember a greengrocer coming around Doctors' Circle at the Trenton State Hospital once a week, along with the milkman twice a week.  Fritz the dachshund barked at both of them.

Volkswagen Beetles.

The original ones haven't been sold in the US since 1977, but the new model was sold between 1997 and 2011, and the third generation Beetle was available from 2012 until now.

The last Beetle to be built by VW was made today in Mexico. Poof. Gone.
